This is a fantastic revolver. Great fit and finish. Added to my stable of .327s. Love the 3″ barrel on this. This is my second SP-101, I have other Ruger’s. I have not shot it yet because I am waiting on a Wolfe Spring Kit, but I have no doubt that it will be in my rotation as a EDC. Thank you Buds for another great purchase experiance.

Cool little gun for a cool little caliber. It’s everything I expect from a Ruger revolver, and it looks good too.

As a longtime fan of the Ruger SP101 I was intrigued when they released the six round .327 federal version several years ago. I previously had purchased both the .32 and .357 models. They were trouble free and with the 3″ barrel I found them to be very accurate. So recently I purchased a 3″ SP101 in .327 Federal. Out of the box I was really disappointed with the stiffness of the action, something that I had not experienced with the older models I owned. Initially I considered sending it back to Ruger to see if they could fix the issues… it was that bad. But a trip to my gunsmith proved enlightening. He was well aware of the SP101 factory trigger/action and suggested a change to the springs and a cleanup some rough edges. I decided to give it a go and for less than $100 I got an upgrade that solved my problems. Action is smooth, double or single trigger both great. I took the gun to the range and had a blast shooting standard .32, .32 H&R magnum, and the .327 Federal rounds. No light strikes with the lighter springs. Accurate and fun to shoot. So yes, I have no doubt voided my warranty, but I am not worried about that being an issue going forward. Prior to the range trip I replaced the small for me wood inset grips with Houge rubber grips with finger grooves which I had on my older guns. That helps improve grip and soften recoil. I went through a box of .327 federal and found it to be pleasant when compared to the same gun in .357 magnum. All in all I am one happy camper with my lightly modified SP101. While I believe the gun as delivered was unacceptable to me as a regular shooter, the changes I made gave me a sweet little six shooter revolver. After shooting a couple cylinders my buddy who is a high end only pistol guy gave the gun a B grade and coming from him that is a compliment!

Very well built, extreamly accurate out of the box. Easy to manage even with the heavier loads. Nice to have 5 choices, easier to practice. Great buy.

Perfect collection and show piece.

Nifty little Federal Magnum .327; about as much impact as a .357 but without the recoil. Only negative for me was the too small grip so I changed it out for a Hogue and that worked great. Fun to shoot. Priced under $700.

Purchased this firearm and had an issue with the action/cylinder locking up. Called Ruger and they sent UPS a pickup notification and had it returned to me in a week with the issue remedied. I really like this revolver and I like how Ruger took care of this situation, and I got a great price on the firearm from Bud’s.
